Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 23, 2026
1. Introduction
SunUVIndex ("we", "our", "us") operates this website to provide real-time UV index and sun safety information. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how it is shared with third parties.
2. Location data
To display local UV readings we detect your approximate location using either your browser's Geolocation API (with your permission) or your IP address via ipapi.co. City-level coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo to fetch a UV and weather forecast. We do not store your location on our servers.
3. Third-party weather APIs
We rely on Open-Meteo (weather, UV, geocoding), ipapi.co (IP geolocation), and Wikipedia (city imagery). Requests to these services are subject to their own privacy policies.
4. Cookies and local storage
We use minimal browser storage for preferences (such as recent cities). Advertising partners may set their own cookies as described below.
5. Advertising partners
SunUVIndex is supported by advertising. We use Google AdSense, a third-party ad network. Google and its partners may use cookies and device identifiers to serve personalized ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info.
6. Analytics
We may use privacy-friendly analytics to measure aggregate site usage. No personally identifiable information is collected.
7. Children's privacy
SunUVIndex is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
8. Your rights
You can clear cookies in your browser at any time. For questions about your data, email privacy@sunuvindex.com.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
